What is Kestine?
Kestine is an anti-allergic medicine. The active substance ebastine is an antihistamine. This medicine is available as a tablet and as a melting tablet. You can order Kestine online through the pharmacies that work with Dokteronline.com.
What is this medication used for?
Antihistamines help with the symptoms of allergies to pollen (hay fever), pets, insect bites or other substances in the environment. The complaints that often occur in an allergy include sneezing, a runny or clogged nose, itchy and/or burning eyes, skin rash with itching or a feeling of oppression. These complaints are caused by an excessive response of the immune system to the stimuli you are allergic to. Kestine blocks the onset of an allergic reaction which causes the symptoms to decrease. The drug usually works within an hour.
How to use Kestine?
Kestine is available as a regular tablet and as a melting tablet. The regular tablet is to be swallowed without chewing with some water. The melting tablet has to soften gently on the tongue, after which you can swallow it without water. This medicine does not have to be taken (but may be taken) with food. If you suffer a lot from particular side effects like sleepiness, take the tablet in the evening. You can also take Kestine preventively to prevent an allergic reaction. For example, take the medicine one hour before coming into contact with the allergen (for example a pet).
The partner pharmacies offer Kestine available online in different strengths. Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, the usual starting dose is as follows:
- Adults and children from 12 years: once daily 1 tablet of 10 mg.
In the case of severe complaints, a doctor may adjust the dosage (depending on the type of symptoms) to 20 mg per day. Kestine is not suitable for children under 12 years old. Read the instructions before use.
Kestine can sometimes cause side effects, although not every user is affected by this. The side effects of Kestine include:
- Fatigue, sleepiness;
- Dry mouth.
If you suffer from any of these or other side effects, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist. An overview of all possible side effects is found in the leaflet.
